Please verify your command one piece at a time, starting with you batch file.
First just have the command to launch Access in the batch file. Only put this in the batch file
'C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice11MSACCESS.EXE'
I have made a macro that refreshes the worksheet and this works ok. Is there a way I can get Scheduled tasks to automatically update this workbook eg overnight. I do not want to leave the workbook open either. Can task scheduler open the workbook, refresh the data, then close the workbook again. Please help Thanks Roy. I have created a macro group that needs to be run every evening after our data wharehouse has been updated so that it will update all of our reports and queries before we come in to the office in the am. How do I schedule this macro to run at a certain time in the evening every night? I have tried to use task schedule with the following code.
Installed on a Microsoft Windows machine is a utility called Windows Task Scheduler. Using the Task Scheduler allows user to create simple automated tasks, such as opening a Microsoft Excel document at a specific time of day. I set up a scheduled task on a server to run an Access macro that outputs a file. When I set the task to “run only when user is logged on” it runs perfectly. When I change it to “run whether user is logged on or not” it fails.
When you launch the batch file, does Access open?
Modify the batch file to open the database.
'C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice11MSACCESS.EXE' 'C:DbPathDbName.mdb'
When you launch the batch file now, does Access open the correct database? Can you run the macro?
Now modify the batch file to open the database and run the macro.
Assuming the name of you macro is MacroName, the line should read as follows with no space between the x and MacroName:
'C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeMicrosoft Access 2010MSACCESS.EXE' 'C:DbPathDbName.mdb' /xMacroName

When you launch the batch file now, does Access open the correct database and run the macro?
Task Scheduler Macro
Finally open the Task Scheduler and schedule it to run your batch file. (Keep in mind that this machine now has to remain logged into the network.)
Task Scheduler Defrag
Currently I have a task setup which opens my workbook every day at a set time, runs 2 macros in the workbook open procedure and then closes excel.
However as the macros email people, having the code run on the workbook open procedure is not ideal. If the file is opened at any other time these emails will still be sent, which will just confuse people (it also makes it a pain to edit as the procedure closes the workbook.)
Is there a way to use the task scheduler to run specific Macros so I wouldn't have to have them in the workbook open procedure?
